Capel Courtyard is within striking distance of some of the UK’s best gardens such as Sissinghurst and Great Dixter, as well as having many National Trust properties on it’s doorstep – such as Scotney Castle, Chartwell , Batemans and Igtham Mote. In fact the gardens and National Trust properties in this area are too numerous to mention.
Capel Courtyard is a 20 minute drive from the historic Georgian spa town of Royal Tunbridge Wells. Wander around the older, southern end of this delightful town, known as The Pantiles, and try the famous water from the Chalybeate Spring which is purported to have many health benefits. Browse the lovely individual shops such as Le Petit Jardin or stop to have a drink in one of the many cafes, such as Juliette’s.
Also a 20 minute drive away you can access Bewl Water, the largest manmade reservoir in England which offers sailing and paddle boarding or just walk around its perimeter or have a drink in the cafe. A similar distance away lies Bedgebury Forest and Bedgebury Pinetum which both offer stunning walks with a magnificent collection of different trees.
Within an easy drive are some of England’s best vineyards, including Chapel Down and Rathfinny, whilst just 5 minutes down the road is Herbert Hall. Plus close by is Biddenham boutique cider company and Cellar Head Brewing real ale company
In addition the lovely seaside towns of Rye and Winchelsea are within a 45 minute drive.
Capel Courtyard is situated between the villages of Horsmonden and Goudhurst in the Weald of Kent. Around are plenty of amazing local walks including the High Weald Walks and fabulous bike rides including Bewl and Bedgbury bike hire. Please ask us for information.
